Thunderkick has expanded the global reach of its slot games through a casino game aggregation partnership with Alea.

The independent slots studio’s portfolio of titles – including Bones & Bounty and Hot Potato –  will be available to Alea’s partnered operators across European, African and Latin American markets.

Additional future content from Thunderkick will also be integrated into the casino aggregator as part of the deal.

“Alea’s aggregator service allows us to provide our unforgettable, innovative gaming experience to even more players around the world, so we’re thrilled to have integrated our portfolio,” commented Fredrik Ekholm, Head of Sales at Thunderkick.

“Our games this year have been embraced and enjoyed by more players than ever before, and we can’t wait to keep that progress going with Alea in 2024 and beyond. It’s been a swift, smooth process thus far, and we’re looking forward to what the future holds.”

Alea’s aggregator offers its partners over 10,000 games from global providers with technology and secure API that offers a seamless experience.

Throughout 2023, Thunderkick has been raising the ceiling of its potential growth, whether it be through integration partnerships or the expansion of its own offices in Stockholm, Sweden.

Edu Verdaguer, Partnership Manager at Alea, added: “We’re delighted to be integrating Thunderkick’s stellar portfolio of fantastic slots into our collection of games, which has now reached over 10,000.

“Our API provides a one-stop modern solution for casinos in several key markets, and we’re excited to contribute to Thunderkick’s story and provide them with a whole host of new players across the globe.”

At SBC Summit Barcelona, Alexandre Tomic, Founder and CEO of Alea, spoke to CasinoBeats about the future of casino aggregators within the igaming industry.

When it comes to enhancing the content offering of an online casino operator, “it is a necessity to have an aggregator.” Those were the words of Alexandre Tomic, Founder and CEO of Alea

Speaking in front of the casino game aggregator’s sponsored hyperbaric oxygen tank showcased at SBC Summit Barcelona, Tomic joined CasinoBeatsCraig Davies to explain why operators are relying on aggregators to find suppliers that are the “golden nugget” hidden amidst an oversaturated igaming market.

Detailing the extent of the igaming industry’s oversaturation, Tomic explained that supply is starting to outweigh demand, stating that “there is a bottleneck” as sometimes an operator can only “integrate one provider per month, or maybe even one provider per week, and some of them just have five games.”

“You need a partner to be able to do that for you,” he continued. “You can’t integrate all of them, it’s just not possible. You need to try all of them, because at some point there is this golden nugget in the middle.”

With Alea offering well over 10,000 games from more than 100 providers, Tomic was questioned on the company’s process for vetting suppliers to gain the best quality content for its aggregation platform.

“I’ve been in this industry for 20 years,” he began. “I don’t know if a game is going to be good before the players have adopted it. I can look at the graphics, I can look at the maths, I can play the game, I can feel the game, I can think players are going to like it, but to be honest, there’s no way I can predict [a game’s success].

“However, I can predict it by the team. You see this solid team of Product Owners and Head of Product. You look at Relax Gaming and what they did. Head of Product at NetEnt Simon Hammond moved to Relax.

“Before Money Train came out, I think it took them a year to launch a game but you knew these guys were going to rock.”

As aggregation continues to dominate headlines in the slot space, with aggregation-focused M&A going through the roof, Tomic was asked, simply: Is aggregation the next logical phase of consolidation?

“I think so, we’ve been approached a lot,” he replied. “Basically, an aggregator is a distribution channel, you’re integrated into many operators. We are seeing more and more demands. Aggregators are definitely becoming the new kids on the block.”

Igaming developer Spribe has increased the distribution network of its Turbo Games suite through a partnership with casino aggregator Alea.

Through the deal, Spribe’s Turbo titles will be added to Alea, including games such as Mines, Dice, Plinko, Keno, Goal, HiLo, Mini Roulette, Hotline and the crash game Aviator.

Alea’s next-generation casino game aggregator features more than 10,000 titles covering classic casino games, slots, live dealer content plus exclusive games with special features.

“Alea is a company very similar to ours as we share a passion for providing new and exciting entertainment experiences to players,” commented David Natroshvili, Managing Partner at Spribe.

“It’s great to see Aviator and other games from our award-winning portfolio be made available to operators powered by Alea, and for them to be able to engage new audiences with our games while also providing existing players with fresh casino content.

“Of course, Aviator is our flagship title and we look forward to seeing it fly high with Alea, its operators and their players. It really does offer a unique gaming and gambling experience, so strap in and hold on tight.”

Launched in 2018, Spribe’s Aviator title offers “simplistic UI, multiplayer and social aspects” that allow players to play in real-time with their friends. Featuring a leaderboard to compare scores, the game has more than five million monthly active users.

“We are committed to providing our customers with high-performance gaming solutions and when it comes to content Aviator is one of the best in the business,” added Jordi Sendra, COO at Alea.

“The number of players it attracts is off the charts and it really does provide a thoroughly entertaining, interactive experience. Spribe’s other titles are just as engaging, and this is what makes this such a significant provider integration for us.”

Earlier this year, Natroshvili spoke to CasinoBeats and explained why Latin America was such an attractive market for the developer.

CreedRoomz has sealed a live casino partnership with Alea for game distribution across the latter’s network.

Through the deal, classic games and region-specific titles from the SoftConstruct live casino brand will be integrated into the operator’s gaming portfolio, expanding the collection of games on offer to partners.

Commenting on the partnership, CreedRoomz stated that they and Alea are “confident” that the partnership will provide “continued growth and success” to both entities in the gaming industry.

Back in March, CreedRoomz launched Two Hand Roba Baccarat, an igaming solution that features a “one-of-a-kind” offering of two robot croupiers.

The live casino brand believes Two Hand Roba Baccarat can create a more enhanced player experience and increase the number of rounds players participate in.

At last year’s SBC Summit Barcelona, Christopher Smith, Chief Commercial Officer at CreedRoomz, highlighted the use of robot croupiers as an innovation that can help improve the player experience.

Savvas Fellas, managing director of Lindar Media, believes companies need to have their own native solutions internally instead of being reliant upon the aggregator, as he spoke at the SBC Summit Barcelona – Digital

Speaking on the ‘Innovation in Slots‘ panel Fellas emphasised the conflict of innovation coming from both the platform and the soft developers side of the industry.

He explained: “It’s interesting that people like Pragmatic and Iconic and Play’n Go have their in house tournament engines, which is really nice but when you, as the operator, are mainly focused on your customer journey that kinda goes out the window when you have all these different UI’s and they’re all branded differently. We shouldn’t neglect these kind of things, what they are doing is great but it’s not universal.

“From the operator perspective they have all the real core data, they have the single customer view that will allow them to create something that is a more universal cross vendor.

“You can very easily spin up a tournament that allows you to set up tournaments based on wins and wages, you can give cash and free spin credit because it comes from the aggregator level but it does highlight the need to be able to do that internally because not everything is taken by the aggregator so you’re just bound by their slots.”

As part of the panel, Fellas was joined by Tobias Svensen, CEO at CasinoGrounds, Josefine Hellstrom, head of casino at Casumo, Nicolas Van Malderghem, head of casino at Napoleon Sports and Casino and Vladimir Malakchi, chief business development officer at Evoplay Entertainment with Alexandre Tomic, co-founder of Alea, moderating the session.

Countering Fellas point, Alexandre Tomic, stated: “What we would like to see is a B2B platform that comes and allows the operator to provide that content without having to buy the content from an aggregator. As an operator I don’t want to be dependent on anyone from that and buy their contract to add fees on top of that.”

Van Malderghem agreed with Fellas’ point and highlighted the issues his company faces in Belgium: “A lot of suppliers create ways to offer tournaments but what we are looking at is to also have the tournament to have specific skill layers on top of the game without having the game bound to specific suppliers,” he added.

“In Belgium slot games are less popular than the dice games which have a skill element to it. We want to have the added value of a layer of tournaments above but that’s something that one supplier can’t offer.”

The debate then started to become heated when Fellas’ followed on from Van Malderghem’s point by stating the company doesn’t own the website’s IP going on to claim taking third party content diminishes the sites value.

Tomic hit back claiming: “When a buyer comes to you and you tell the buyer that you built everything yourself and maintain everything yourself, they prefer to see that you’ve integrated 20 of the best providers within your platform and it knows how to handle it than develop everything yourself.”

Fellas, who agreed with Tomic’s point, went on to state: “I think you need to know what battles to pick. When we first launched we wanted to build an affiliate platform, we wanted to build the chat and bingo. You take that data and you have it natively and build loads of tools around and I don’t think it should be forfeited for a third party.”

Hellstrom chipped in to note: “What we’ve seen lately is that a lot of the operators don’t have that tech back to build these products themselves. That’s why we’ve seen more companies assist and better aim at retaining our players instead of putting the focus on product innovation.”
