Making a foray into the world of branded content has really enabled Swintt to reach new demographics of slot players, according to David Mann

In a video interview with SBC at ICE London 2022, the Swintt Chief Commercial Officer dives into the world of branded content, shining a light on the developer’s latest title which features former professional footballer Vinnie Jones.

“In the title, Vinnie Jones has got a gang together and they’re planning to rob the crown jewels. There are four different environments that players can visit, with each one offering a unique feature.”

The four different environments, Mann told SBC, are four different pubs dotted around the east end of London: The Crown pub, The Bullseye pub, The Drunken Duck pub and Michael’s Whiskey Tavern.

Mann continued: “One environment, for example, features sticky wilds. Another has multiplier wilds. We found that this is just another way of engaging players and giving them something unique. One of the environments also has a nice bonus range where players can get multipliers and a higher number of free spins, with a mini game prior to the bonus round starting.”

When quizzed on the reasons why Swintt has ventured into the world of branded slots, Mann believes that working with celebrities can help broaden the appeal of particular titles. Although, this can come with its own set of challenges.

“Branded games have a certain appeal. There are a lot of players who identify with those particular types of games. There’s a lot of marketing that you can put behind branded games, and we want to be able to offer operators something a bit different. At Swintt, we think that we found a really special opportunity to engage with Vinnie Jones.

“But finding the right brand isn’t always easy; you have to be able to find something that is popular and something that people can really identify with.

“Given the nature of branded content, its costs and the subsequent revenue share deals, we also want to find something that we think will end up profitable not only for us, but also for the branded and licenced IP.

“As a company, we have a real vision and mission to be very philanthropic. We want to support good causes and raise money for charity. As many of you might know, part of the proceeds from this game will actually go to Vinnie Jones’ selected charity, Royal Brompton and Harefield trust. This is a cause that is very close to his heart.”

CasinoAlpha has set out on a mission to connect bettors with products which are both appealing, personalised but also prioritise safer gambling.

The way in which the company is doing this, its new Chief Technical Officer Alex Bobes told CasinoBeats, is through “boundary-pushing technology”.

CasinoBeats: Congratulations on your new role, Alex! Can you tell us a little bit about your background in the technology space?

AB: Sure! So as you mentioned, I recently started my new role as the Chief Technology Officer of CasinoAlpha, however my career has always involved working with technology that pushes the boundaries.

I have spent more than 13 years working in the technology industry. In my new role, I will be responsible for upgrading strategies and finding new opportunities for our team which, I believe, will help CasinoAlpha grow to new heights.

CasinoBeats: For those that might not know, what is CasinoAlpha?

AB: CasinoAlpha is an online gambling product available across multiple English-speaking markets, like the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand and Canada. We also have a Romanian version and are currently expanding into new markets.

Besides offering the classic affiliate products like casinos and bonuses, we are also expanding the information available to players. We are doing this in multiple ways:

 • Legal guides that translate betting jargon into text that is easy to understand
 • Advice and help for any stage of gambling addiction
 • Rules, strategies and “how-to” guides for casino games
 • Blogs and news to keep you in the loop with all on-point and adjacent subjects.

CasinoAlpha does even more than that behind the scenes. By using hours of research and testing, we keep adding operators to our database, pinning their features. After adding hundreds of such products, we are able to compare and make much better recommendations. All that happens in the background of a very open-minded work environment!

CasinoBeats: How does CasinoAlpha tie into the Extremoo Group?

AB: CasinoAlpha wouldn’t have been able to rise to these standards and expand if the team behind it hadn’t been pushing the boundaries and kept fighting for improvements.

Extremoo Group was set up around six years ago. They went through several stages of evolution across multiple markets. That means even major legislative changes, restrictions and player preferences.

Using their own background and experiences, they are well equipped to know what players need. Their team has experience within the gambling sector too, so the wall between general analysis and user needs is demolished.

Extremoo prides itself in the following core principles that you will see reflected in CasinoAlpha too:

 • All work is based on and grown by a professional attitude and mindset
 • Working towards a genuine good reputation
 • Possible evolution where opportunities arise
 • Meritocracy career opportunities and growth

CasinoBeats: So you briefly touched upon your new role. What will your day–to-day as CTO look like?

AB: My main mission will be to create, update and use the options of advanced digital platforms at total capacity. Powered by CasinoAlpha’s technology, these platforms will try to better the process of online gambling by matching a player with their needs.

In my opinion, there has always been a discrepancy between players’ needs (within safe limits) and the options they have. These are about to thin out soon.

CasinoBeats: What future improvements can we expect?

AB: We certainly have a number of improvements in the pipeline, that’s for sure! CasinoAlpha, which is owned by Extremoo Group, will continue to educate gamblers through the full provision of information which will allow bettors to make the best possible decisions.

We will also continue to test sites and rate them, making sure that we are only promoting the safest options. By fine tuning our offering, we can help CasinoAlpha to grow exponentially.

You can expect us to draw upon artificial intelligence, blockchain and other disruptive technologies. Put simply, you can expect tech-driven openness and accelerated growth.

CasinoBeats: Looking to the future, what do you anticipate as being the biggest challenges that CasinoAlpha faces? And how do you plan to overcome these?

AB: Of course, the looming and omnipresent problem in the industry has always been problem gambling. CasinoAlpha is tackling that daily by including a section on Responsible Tools & Solutions in all of our presentations.

On the brighter side, we can expect that some issues we’ve been dealing with for a long time will be fixed with the help of self-learning AI. We look forward to the next updates!

Celebrating six years of SYNOT Games, Chief Commercial Officer Martina Hrabinska looks back on the company’s highlights and outlines some of the plans for the next 12 months as the games developer continues to expand its international footprint.

2021 was an extremely busy and successful year for SYNOT Games. We kicked off the year with great news – we obtained the UKGC licence and entered the UK market, distributed our content portfolio in the German market and well-established markets such as Italy, Portugal, Romania, etc. through our partners operating there, leveraging the many opportunities we have out there. But it is important for us to maintain a stable position as a top provider in Slovakia and Czech Republic, our domestic markets.

Our game portfolio now boasts over 90 titles, with at least one-two games being developed per month. A lot of thought and effort went into their creation as they combine innovative concepts with different themes and designs, high-resolution graphics, and a rich array of in-game features such as variations of game volatility, an assortment of bonus wilds, multiplier symbols, the Hold and Win feature, not to mention the integration of our progressive bonus.

At SYNOT Games, we have a clear path ahead of us. We will continue to focus on regulated markets and maintain compliance throughout our operations.

Our aim remains to continuously strive for industry standards showcasing product and technical excellence and powerful collaborations. So, networking and keeping up with our partners is an essential part of our business.

Two exciting markets have a prominent position in our roadmap for this year – Bulgaria and Switzerland. These are regions to keep an eye on because the SYNOT Games logo will soon pop up much more often in these quarters.

The SYNOT Games slot development roadmap for the first half of 2022 has been announced and there’s plenty of great content to look forward to – new themes and sequels of our top performers, like Respin Joker. We are already unpacking a fantastic range of new games every month with still more to come.

We are also expecting to see many more customers offering our content with an integrated SYNOT Progressive Bonus as we continue to integrate our proprietary bonus tool with their platforms. Plus, we have some surprises for our customers and players in the shape of holiday-themed slots, one launching very soon.

We are about to launch a new Hold and Win feature, which has recently become very popular among slot lovers of all types. Hold and Win is regarded as one of the more accessible features and it’s equally appealing to fans of traditional games and those who prefer modern releases.

In the coming months, players can look forward to another hot news item in our portfolio, Buy Feature. This option is exciting from the perspective that it lets gamers play the bonus at any time and furthermore, gives them an opportunity to chase huge prizes whenever they feel like doing so.

Our focus for this year is to stand out in a crowded digital space and strive for new ways to truly be distinguished. We plan the team growth as well, not just in a product department but across the whole company.

This year we celebrate the 6th year anniversary of SYNOT Games and it’s unbelievable to see that from just a small group of e-gaming enthusiasts we have grown into a team of 140 experts.

The emergence of cutting-edge technologies has always shaped the landscape of the igaming industry, promising to take frontrunners to the next level and leave those too slow to adjust, writes Wazdan.

We’ve seen businesses utilise AI-led technology, VR, blockchain, and now the metaverse in many ways that help them stand out from competitors. However, with some of these technologies still in their infancy, it remains to be seen if they can be used to tap into broader audiences around the world.

Operators across the globe should be receptive to innovations and change, but they should be mindful of how said innovations can engage players and improve their experience. At Wazdan, we are ardent believers in the need for constant innovation and staying ahead of the curve. However, as a supplier, this does not need to be through pioneering new technologies.

Over a decade, we have provided out-of-the-box innovation, passion for games, and reliability to players worldwide. However, our most significant wins are thanks to our ability to give players complete control over their experiences rather than utilising the latest igaming trends.

With hundreds of games released each month and thousands already in existence, it is essential to focus on quality content that stands out and outperforms competitors’ games. Our mantra of ‘quality over quantity’ allows us to remain consistently proud of the games we produce, with our monthly releases providing innovative features, immersive themes, and superb visuals.

Customers are Wazdan’s number one priority, which drives us to deliver some of the best graphics and concepts in the industry. Audiences are always on the lookout for new experiences and the next thrill, and giving them what they want is essential to keep them coming back.

Inventive experiences that facilitate modern preferences

We work round the clock to provide our customers with fresh gaming experiences, with every new title offering unique maths models, varied reel arrays, and various exciting ways to win. Our Hold the Jackpot collection is a testament to this, taking the industry by storm by delivering a unique version of the mechanic in each title that it stars in so that players can enjoy diverse playing experiences.

One of the titles belonging to the collection is Power of Gods: Hades, which has recently received nominations for several honours, including the EGR North America Awards, CasinoBeats Game Developer Awards, and the AskGamblers Awards. The superbly designed game takes players on a visual journey as they cross the river Styx and enter the underworld, which also holds the thrilling Hold the Jackpot bonus round and Cascading Reels for extra winning potential.

Wazdan’s latest Hold the Jackpot creation, Magic Spins, is also proven to engage players with its advanced mechanics and bonus features, including the recently launched Collect to Infinity™ mechanism, allowing players to collect cash prizes throughout the bonus round. This innovative feature increases players’ engagement and drives revenue growth for our partners.

Furthermore, our upcoming release, 9 Coins, will introduce new Cash Infinity symbols, which stick to the reels until the Hold the Jackpot bonus game is triggered, engaging players for longer and increasing game session length.

Freedom of choice in every aspect

Customisation tools also play a crucial role for suppliers looking to differentiate from competitors. By assisting the creation of flexible experiences and placing the user’s experience at the centre of its values, the industry has continued growing steadily, year on year, without tapping into every new technology or trend that appears on the market.

Wazdan’s titles allow players to choose a variable volatility and speed level and other intuitive customisation tools, ensuring that each game can be catered to their specific needs and preferences. Players can quickly choose from three volatility levels, allowing them to modify the size and frequency of their wins, with high volatility bringing bigger wins but less often and low volatility ushering in more frequent, smaller wins.

We recently expanded the Volatility Levels offering to allow casino managers to choose a default level for their players. This widespread control can provide significant value for VIP managers or specific promotions for partners.

More than just mobile-ready slots

The demand for mobile gaming has grown considerably over the past decade and is always on the rise. Focusing on creating content optimised for mobile rather than desktop devices is critical to suppliers as it allows them to attract new generations of players and their modern requirements.

Our dedication to producing immersive, on-the-go gaming experiences on all devices is evident across our entire portfolio. We provide our players with a collection of customisable features that work with any device, allowing mobile users to utilise our proprietary Volatility Levels tool and other special features like Energy Saving Mode, which enables players to extend the life of their device battery by 40 per cent.

We have devised unique and captivating games since 2010 and will continue to strive to bring as much innovation as possible to the igaming sphere over the coming years. The proof is in the pudding, with games like Magic Spins and the upcoming 9 Coins offering new innovative features, giving Wazdan plenty to shout about as we continue to trawl through a busy igaming calendar.

The first half of this year has been a “whirlwind” for Booming Games, with new licences, new products and new partnerships all keeping the team busy. But according to Head of Sales Aaron Axisa, the second half of the year is going to be even more jam-packed with big announcements.

Chatting to CasinoBeats, Axisa walks us through the major milestones for the company in the last few months before outlining some of the key territories for expansion later in the year.

CasinoBeats: Firstly, can you begin by giving our readers an introduction to yourself – who you are and what your role at Booming Games entails?

AA: I started out as an account manager here, but back in 2021, I switched things up and moved into the sales department.

Being the Head of Sales means I’m in charge of the sales crew, driving up the revenue, and playing a big role in the company’s overall achievements. It’s been an amazing ride so far, and I can’t wait to see where the future takes me in the always-exciting igaming world.

CasinoBeats: It’s been a busy first half of the year – what would you say have been some of the biggest milestones for Booming Games so far?

AA: It’s been very busy and very exciting indeed. First of all, we’ve unlocked new territories with licences for the UK and SGA, we`ve also managed to enter the Netherlands, Colombia and Spain. Those strategic moves enable for us many new possibilities to grow our European and LatAm presence.

We also need to mention new partnerships with top tier operators, such as Kindred, Rivalo, TonyBet, Snai and Bingoal, which boosted our games performance.

Our slots have been climbing the charts, with Leprechaun’s Lucky Barrel and BabyBloomers rocking AskGamblers as the best seasonal games to play. Hold onto your hats – PayDay Pig is making a name for itself as one of the top five new UK online slots for 2023. And the talk of the town? Dog Heist Shift ‘n’ Win, stealing hearts with its catchy theme, Cash Collect feature and mind-bending Shift ‘N’ Win mechanics.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. We were shortlisted for big awards like EGR B2B Mobile Gaming Software Supplier and Slot Game Provider of the Year at the SiGMA Awards Americas 2023.

The first half of the year has been a whirlwind, and we’re gearing up for even more excitement ahead.

CasinoBeats: As we understand, you’ve made progress in entering three new markets this year – Netherlands, Colombia and Spain. Why did you choose to enter these markets in particular? Have you found that players within these markets show a preference for particular Booming Games titles?

AA: Absolutely, entering the Netherlands, Colombia and Spain has been a strategic move for us. These markets have shown immense potential and align perfectly with our growth vision.

In the Netherlands, the vibrant gaming culture and the recent regulatory changes presented an exciting opportunity. Players there have a knack for engaging gameplay, which resonates well with our titles. Colombia for instance, with its rapidly expanding igaming scene, provided us a chance to tap into a dynamic player base seeking innovative entertainment.

Our games’ unique features have certainly caught their attention. Spain, a key hub for online gaming, felt like a natural fit. Players appreciate our diverse portfolio, and the market’s appetite for fresh, engaging content has allowed us to shine.

In all three markets, we’ve observed players showing a clear excitement for Booming Games titles. Our focus on immersive gameplay, captivating themes, and innovative mechanics has struck a chord with them. It’s an exciting journey, and we’re thrilled to be part of their gaming experiences.

CasinoBeats: You recently acquired both a UKGC and SGA licence. How will these two new licences enable Booming Games to expand its European footprint?

AA: Obtaining both the UKGC and SGA licences was a significant achievement for us and a meticulous process. These licences mark a pivotal moment for Booming Games. With the UKGC and SGA certifications in hand, we’re empowered to expand our European presence significantly.

These licences act as stamps of approval, showcasing our commitment to responsible gaming and compliance. They open doors to new partnerships with reputable operators, allowing players across the UK and Sweden to experience our innovative titles.

These licences definitely strengthen our position in the European market and amplify our ability to deliver top-notch entertainment to a broader audience. We’re excited for the journey ahead.

CasinoBeats: Tell us about some of the exclusive releases that you’ve launched this year – how important are exclusive titles when it comes to building long-term engagement with players?

AA: Exclusive releases are very important for us, as they play a crucial role in fostering long-term player engagement. We’ve had the pleasure of introducing some exciting exclusive titles to the gaming world, such as BetFlag’s Gold Gold Gold, StarCasino’s King Cobra, and BetVictor’s Pinata Wildz and more.

Exclusive titles hold a special place in building lasting relations. They offer players a unique experience and tend to generate higher levels of engagement due to their novelty and the sense of being part of an exclusive club.

Players are more likely to explore and immerse themselves in these games, fostering a stronger bond with the game and the brand. This translates to longer playtimes, increased interaction, and a more dedicated player base. So those releases definitely elevate the gaming experience to a whole new level and contribute significantly to our long-term success in the industry.

CasinoBeats: How do you ensure that Booming Games slots stand the test of time?

AA: It is, of course, an ongoing journey that involves rigorous testing, continuous learning, and constant refinement.

We follow a meticulous process of analysis, examining the performance of our games to pinpoint what resonates most effectively within specific markets. This involves understanding player preferences, trends, and evolving gaming dynamics. By delving into these insights, we uncover valuable lessons that guide us in crafting experiences that players truly love.

Our commitment to quality and longevity is evident in our portfolio. We have a few games that were introduced several years ago, yet they continue to reign as top performers. This speaks to our dedication to crafting games that stand the test of time, thanks to their engaging gameplay, innovative features, and timeless appeal.

So, the approach combines a blend of data-driven insights, player feedback and a dedication to innovation. By consistently fine-tuning our offerings, we ensure that Booming Games slots remain captivating and enjoyable for players, maintaining their popularity and relevance over the years.

CasinoBeats: What can we expect to see from Booming Games in 2023 and beyond?

AA: We’ve got cool stuff coming your way – new games with innovative features and mechanics. Stay tuned for more details coming real soon!

Multiplayer games, jackpots and robot croupiers – three features that CreedRoomz is utilising to help create an elevated player experience for live casino players.

Speaking at SBC Summit Barcelona, Chief Commercial Officer Christopher Smith was pressed on CreedRoomz’ ROBA product – a robot dealer that “acts as a real croupier”.

Beginning the discussion, Smith looked at the ways in which CreedRoomz is helping to extend BetConstruct’s offering to new audiences. He said: “Since the separation and rebranding, it has given us more opportunities to expand our distribution network.

“Historically, anyone that was using our product was doing so through the BetConstruct platform. But now, that can be done via our direct API.

“People may not have previously been able to access our products because of integration issues, or any other issues. But now, that can all be done directly. It also means that we’ve got new opportunities to enter markets that we might not have previously been able to do so. That benefits us with new chances for growth, but by default also benefits BetConstruct too.”

The chat soon turned towards the range of products within CreedRoomz portfolio. Of those that have been well received by partners was a feature that transforms any live dealer table into a multiplayer experience.

Smith added: “One of our features that we’re particularly proud of is our own feature that makes any of our roulette tables into multiplayer roulette. It gives that multiplayer experience for any one of our players on any one of our games. That has been really, really well received.

“On our blackjack tables, we have our black jackpot – a live jackpot running 24 hours a day across all of our blackjack tables. Players can win a small, medium or large jackpot at any random moment. That is seeded completely by us. So there is no cost to the player and operator.

“It gives [operators] a free promotional tool, that no other casino supplier offers, to help them engage new players with blackjack. We also have a tournament engine that we use to run leaderboard tournaments, as well as many other side bets and features within games that aren’t offered by other live casino suppliers.”

Online poker software developer Connective Games has expanded its international footprint by opening up three new offices.

The hubs – located in Armenia, Serbia and Turkey – will mean that Connective Games is now active in four countries, with its HQ located in Malta.

The online poker software developer explained that the three additional hubs are a “logical step in the company’s global development strategy”.

By opening offices in Belgrade, Fethiye and Yerevan, Connective Games also hopes that it can diversify its workforce. This “fresh talent”, it said, will ultimately strengthen its wider development talent.

As well as traditional poker formats, Connective Games offers a portfolio of ‘social gaming’ poker games which it believes provides a more engaging gameplay experience for bettors.

Back in 2020, the company launched a feature that enables operators to live stream tournaments to players around the world.

The Poker Tournament Live Stream sits on the Connective Games platform, which powers sites such as Spartan Poker. It allows users to remain engaged with a poker brand even when they are not playing themselves, by watching professional players go head to head.

The post David Mann, Swintt: celebrating success for all seasons appeared first on CasinoBeats.

]]>
With the festive period almost upon us, we sat down with Swintt’s Chief Executive Officer David Mann to talk about the success of some of the studio’s recent seasonal releases, what slots players can expect to find in their stockings this time around and why Christmas is far and away his favourite time of the year.

CasinoBeats: In recent years, we’ve seen an increasing number of studios turn their attentions toward seasonal titles – whether they be Halloween, St Patrick’s Day or even Christmas themed-games. In your opinion, what are the secrets to developing a successful seasonal release?

DM: For Swintt, seasonal titles are definitely an important of our strategy when we plan the roadmap of releases each year. They can be a great marketing tool and the main thing is to figure out how to push a game in a seasonally-appropriate way and to make sure that you develop a title that has the staying power to be enjoyed long after the holiday it’s celebrating is over.

With this in mind, it’s essential that you try different features to see what sticks and take note of what players’ responses to them are. Our Christmas-themed title, Golden Reindeer, was released back in 2020, but still remains one of our best-performing games all year round despite it being Christmas themed. That’s the level of success that we aim to repeat each year; and hopefully we’ll be able to create something equally popular this time out as well.

CasinoBeats: How do you ensure the seasonal slots that your studio develops remain a firm favourite with players throughout the year, and not just in the run-up to the specific holiday or event that they’re celebrating?

DM: As I mentioned in the previous answer, Golden Reindeer has become something of a benchmark for what long-term seasonal slot success looks like at Swintt, but it’s not the only example. We’ve also seen a similar response from players to Monster Disco XtraHoldTM – which was released to coincide with Halloween last year – due to its innovative XtraHoldTM mechanic. Though this wasn’t the first Swintt slot to use the feature, the graphics, animations and music used in Monster Disco really captured players’ imaginations and helped introduce XtraHoldTM to an even wider audience.

Again, the game has grown to become one of Swintt’s most-played titles in recent years and added further evidence that with the right combination of design and innovation, seasonal titles can continue to provide engagement long after their release date.

CasinoBeats: As a company, what’s your favourite celebration during the year and how do you mark the occasion?

DM: To answer the question from a business perspective, Swintt’s favourite season is definitely the Christmas period for a number of reasons. Not only is it a great opportunity to introduce players to seasonal titles and expand our business, but it’s also the perfect time to build relationships and bolster staff moral.

Over the festive period, we always try to put on some fun events for Swintt employees and ensure that they have some well-earned time off to spend with their families. As many other companies will also be doing the same around this time of year, it also gives us a great chance to get closer to our clients and we always make the effort to bring merchandise over to them and get to know them a little better. This is something our account managers are always involved in and enables us to strengthen our bonds for the year ahead.

CasinoBeats: Given that December is now only a few short weeks away, does Swintt currently have any Christmas-themed slots in the pipeline that you can begin to tell us a little more about?

DM: We currently have three upcoming Christmas-themed slots, namely Heart of Earth Deluxe, Santa’s Pots and Pearls and Seven Seven Xmas and of the three of them, the one that we’re most excited about sharing with players is Santa’s Pots and Pearls. This is because since it made its debut earlier in 2023, we’ve found that Swintt’s Pots and Pearls feature works really well and has become synonymous with some of the best-performing games in the SwinttPremium line-up.

Given what we’ve already seen from Monster Disco XtraHoldTM – where an already-successful feature became even more popular due to the timeliness of the release – we’re expecting Santa’s Pots and Pearls to be another huge hit with players and the Christmas-themed symbols and graphics should certainly go a long way to helping them get into the holiday spirit.

CasinoBeats: Everyone has their own special customs when it comes to celebrating Christmas, but how will you personally be marking the occasion this year? Does your family have any specific seasonal traditions?

DM: It might sound clichéd, but the Christmas period is definitely my favourite time of the year. Having lived abroad for so long, getting the opportunity to spend the festive season in Scotland is always special. While I’m there, I get to see family and friends, enjoy home comforts and – of course – overindulge in eating and drinking; and it really doesn’t get much better than that!

We don’t have any particular traditions as a family, but I would say that we have a tendency to buy far too many gifts for each other each year. It’s always a bit of a struggle to get everything into the case when it’s time to go home, which means that the wine and chocolates inevitably have to be polished off quickly to make room. Ah, the sacrifices we make!

Doggo Casino: there is always more to be done when supporting local CSR initiatives http://casinobeats.com/2022/12/12/doggo-casino-more-to-be-done-csr/ Mon, 12 Dec 2022 09:30:00 +0000 https://casinobeats.com/?p=76411 We’ve all heard the old saying that ‘a dog is for life, not just for Christmas’. We’ve all heard the old saying that ‘a dog is for life, not just for Christmas’. And if you’re like me, these adverts are guaranteed to tug on the old heart strings. But with rising numbers of dogs being placed in shelters, local charities are facing somewhat of an up-hill battle to rehome these animals.

This has become particularly apparent in Malta, a global hub for all things betting and gaming. So should the igaming sector be doing more to support local animal charities?

In part one of a new ‘dog-useries’, DoubleUp Group’s Head of Brand Marketing Mathew Taylor gives an overview of the work that Doggo Casino has been doing to support local shelters across Malta.

As the name suggests, DoubleUp Group subsidiary Doggo Casino prides itself on combining its love of igaming with its philanthropic efforts in supporting local dog charities, raising awareness of shelters and rehoming initiatives.

He begins by walking us through the adoption process.“To be honest, when you go out and you see dog shelters like this, I don’t think I really have it in me to see that there’s animals that need homing but then go ahead and buy from a breeder,” he said.

“For me, the adoption process was quite good; the person that was handling me was very thorough. They wanted to make sure that I wanted a dog for the right reasons. [They wanted to identify] what my needs were.

“Additionally, what I found is that after I started work, my boss ended up adopting his dog from the same shelter. We both kept their original names too which was a tad unusual. His dog is called Pandora, which I think is really sweet, and mine is called Sadie. Our hearts are definitely in it. This is [a cause that] we’re obviously very passionate about.”

So I come back to my question at the start of this article. What has dog adoption got to do with the igaming sector? Fear not. Taylor explains all.

He soon turned towards the work that the igaming sector can do to support such charities, pointing out that there is always more that can be done to support CSR initiatives. This is particularly important on a local level.

In the case of Doggo Casino, the Association for Abandoned Animals is the initiative of choice. However, as Taylor suggested, there are plenty of other charities that igaming companies can support.

He said: “I think that in the igaming sector, we’re not always doing as much as we could possibly do. I think that there are some CSR initiatives, especially on a local level. I do know that there are some providers and operators who do get involved with dogs which is great. But I do think that generally, more can be done in this area.

“As an area that is well outside of our remit as a business, it is something that has definitely become a key area of focus for us. I would recommend that this really is an area where we can make a difference.”

EEZE has set its sights on becoming one of a wave of companies to receive a licence from Spelinspektionen, which would enable the software supplier to offer its services to the Swedish market.

The licence, which would come into force from July 1, 2023, is hailed as potentially “open up new opportunities and help expand EEZE’s services”.

In a statement, EEZE said: “For EEZE gaming, the acquisition of the Swedish Gaming License will open up new opportunities and help expand our services, offering high-quality products to a broader audience.

“This move is set to be a significant development for the company and one that is expected to contribute positively to our growth and success.

“EEZE gaming is making a name for itself as a top-quality online gaming software provider, and this latest move shows our commitment to meeting the requirements of our partners.

“We can’t wait to see what the future holds for EEZE gaming and how the acquisition of the Swedish Gaming License will contribute to its success.”

Spelinspektionen, the Swedish gambling regulator, previously estimated that 70 software licences would likely be issued before the aforementioned date.

The new legislation will mean that only licensed suppliers will be permitted to operate in the regulated Swedish market. This, Spelinspektionen believes, will ensure that the “Swedish gaming industry remains safe and secure for players”.
